“I always loved math, but had no desire to teach.” says GMP Partner Kris Gusa, “I pursued accounting because my uncle was a CPA and I knew I could always find a job.”
Kris came to Gollob Morgan Peddy in January of 1991. She started out as a seasonal worker, primarily helping out during the busy tax season. “I loved the flexibility accounting gave me,” remembers Kris, “I was able to work during tax season and still have the time I wanted to raise my children.”
Kris would eventually join the firm full-time and came to develop a passion for helping others through her work. “Estate tax and estate administration is an area that I really enjoy,” says Kris, “Helping people through this difficult time, coming alongside them and walking them through the process, has been very rewarding.”
Kris never planned to be a partner, but in 2015 GMP asked her to take on that role and help oversee the firm’s Tax Department. “I cherish the relationships with my clients and love walking with them through life,” says Kris, “It is very rewarding to help them navigate complex tax issues and become their trusted advisor.” Kris has advised clients in a variety of industries and with various tax needs, including medical practices, high net-worth individuals, trusts and non-profit organizations.
Today Kris’ family is growing. Kris and her husband Scott, have 3 kids and a beautiful 2-year-old granddaughter. She loves to vacation in the mountains for skiing or hiking. Playing board games, reading, and cheering on her Texas A&M Aggies and Texas Rangers are some of her favorite things to do.
