Tyler has convenient access to a number
of lakes, including Lake Tyler and Lake Palestine, providing boating,
fishing, swimming, and other recreational possibilities. Tyler
State Park, a
short drive north of the city, provides overnight camping venues,
mountain biking, picnicking, hiking and more.
The Caldwell
Zoo is highly respected, as are the East
Texas Symphony Orchestra and the Tyler
Museum of Art. Annual events include
the well-known Rose
Festival in the fall, and the Azalea
Festival celebrating the beauty of spring.
